Masao Santa was born on January 4, 1919 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. He attended Takikawa Chugakkou high school and signed with the Tokyo Giants in 1938.

The 5-foot-8, 150-pound outfielder played five games during the spring season and was hitless in nine at-bats. He was again hitless during the fall campaign in 13 at-bats. In 1939, Santa played 43 games and batted .190.

He entered military service after the 1939 season and died in combat during the war.
