Kenichi Ohta (Ota) was born in 1918 in Tokyo, Japan. He attended Waseda Jitsugyo high school and signed with the Eagles in 1937. The 19-year-old outfielder played 43 games during the spring season and batted .226 with 11 RBIs. In the fall he hit .151 in 29 games. He played just 11 games and batted .154 in the spring 1938 season but made 33 appearances in the fall and hit .200.

In 1939, Ohta played 94 games for the Eagles and hit .203 with 21 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. the following season he played 67 games and batted .235. That proived to be the end of Ohta's playing career as he was drafted before the year was out. He died in combat in Burma on July 20, 1944.
