Satoshi "Toshi" Masuda was born on October 7, 1923 in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. He attended Kagoshima Shogyo high school and signed with Nankai in 1942.

In his rookie year, the 18-year-old second baseman played 22 games and batted .150. The following season he played 64 games and batted .158.

Masuda died in combat during World War II.
