Hajime Kuwashima was born on June 9, 1918 in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. He attended Takamatsu Shogyo high school and Keio University before signing with Hankyu in 1941. The right-handed hitting third baseman played six games and batted .100 (1-for-10).

Kuwashima entered military service durign the war and died in India in 1944.
