Jinkichi Itoh was born on March 30, 1920 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. He attended Takikawa Chugakkou high school, playing in Koshien Tournaments in 1936 and 1937.

The 19-year-old infielder signed with Hankyu in 1939 and batted .173 in 69 games his rookie year. In 1940, he hit .170 in 74 games and raised his average to .204 in 79 games in 1941.

Jinkichi entered military service after the 1941 season and was killed in combat on Guam.
