Eiji Hirabayshi was born on December 15, 1920, in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. He attended Matsumoto Shogyo high school and played in three Koshien Tournaments (summer 1939, spring and summer 1940) with the school's baseball team.

The young infielder signed with Hanshin in 1941 and batted just .077 in 13 games his rookie year. In 1942, he played 39 games and hit .181 and batted .209 in 1943.

Hirabayshi was drafted by the military in 1943 and died in combat.
