Genbei Tsuji was born on October 29, 1925 in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. He attended Kaiso Chugakkou high school and played at the Koshien Tournament during the summer of 1940.

The 18-year-old was signed by Hanshin in 1944 and played 28 games, batting .241 as a utility player. He also pitched a couple of games, starting them both, lasting a total of 4.1 innings and allowing five runs (three if them unearned).

Genbei Tsuji was drafted by the military that same year and died in combat in 1945.
